MWF Grant Application Form

The Moriah Wilson Foundation supports organizations in alignment with our mission. The Foundation receives more worthy requests than it can fund, so meeting the basic eligibility requirements does not guarantee a grant award. Please review our funding priorities carefully before applying as the average grant award is under $5,000. All applications must clearly define the intended use of funds and articulate the measurable impact the grant will achieve. Requests in which the Foundation’s contribution would have a limited or unclear impact are less likely to be funded.

Grant Guidelines Eligibility

We prioritize:

  • Grant requests from regional/national organizations that serve Moriah’s home state of Vermont and especially organizations and programs in the Northeast Kingdom in Vermont
  • 501(c) (3) non-profit organizations
  • Access to direct participation in sports and outdoor activities, in particular cycling and skiing
  • Recreational programs that provide access to cycling and skiing
    to individuals with socioeconomic barriers
  • High level competitive athletes, teams, and racing programs who demonstrate
strong alignment with the Foundation’s priorities
  • Requests that don’t fit into a priority area but have an especially strong connection to Mo’s legacy

We generally don’t fund:

  • Infrastructure, construction, or trail building
  • Capital or endowment campaigns
Major or highly specialized equipment purchases
  • Ongoing administrative salaries/personnel expenses
  • Medical needs, treatment, or expenses
  • General operating expenses
  • Requests where the Foundation’s contribution would have limited or unclear impact

We review grant applications twice a year, with deadlines of March 15 for the spring cycle and September 15 for the fall cycle. Applications received by each deadline will be reviewed at the Foundation’s April and October Board of Directors meetings, respectively. We look forward to learning about your work and the impact your organization hopes to make!
